Horseback Riding/Back to Bogota

The alarm went off at 4:20 this morning to leave our hotel by 4:40. We took a mototaxi out to the countryside to watch the sunrise on a farm. It started out looking beautiful, but then the fog moved in and blocked everything.

We hung out for a while at the farm, walking around and looking at the flowers and the fruit trees.

We did some cow milking as well, then had a delicious breakfast of eggs, sausage, fried arepa, cheese, and soup.

After breakfast, we went on a horseback ride around the area for some beautiful views. It was Lolita’s first time on a horse!

We were transported back to town for a quick shower and packing up at the hotel before we had to head over to the airport for check in. Our flight left at 11, and we were back in Bogota around 12. We were picked up at the airport and went back to the same cousin’s house that we had been staying with previously. She had a lunch of Bolivian Chicharrones ready for us, which was super yummy. After lunch, we drove out to visit her son in a suburb of Bogota. We visited with their family for a while, then headed out to our last stop of the night- Andres Carne de Res! Given that we had risen so early this morning and had a pretty large lunch, nobody was that energetic about going, but once we arrived, everyone went out on the dance floor!

We shared a couple of plantain appetizers, a provoleta (grilled piece of cheese) dish, and a mixed grill. Great food and great times (though not as crazy as when Lizzie and I went on Saturday night). The party ended around 11, and we headed home, exhausted after the long day.
