Turns out that in addition to paragliding, Iquique is also known for its surfing, and we didn’t want to miss out on that! This morning, we did some onward trip planning (Bolivia!) and again, had an easy morning. At 11, we headed over to a surf shop to take some lessons. We had a couple hours in the water with an instructor helping us out. Can’t say that we were amazing, but we did both at least stand up! Its pretty much impossible to take pictures when surfing though… We did have our instructor snap this one at the end.

The afternoon was spent recovering on the beach with a book. Yeah, we know… life is hard…
We headed to a restaurant next door for some dinner. We figured we should continue to eat seafood given our proximity to the coast and given that we are headed to a landlocked country after this. I ordered the fish of the day, which was Dorado (Mahi Mahi) and Alejandro had Cojinova, which is a type of fish, but we weren’t really able to find an English translation that we were familiar with. The portions were huge! We only took one picture because both of the plates looked the same. We caught a glimpse of another beautiful sunset through the buildings.
Cassie was really craving something sweet, so we headed to get some ice cream after dinner (It had been a couple weeks!). We tried a typical Chilean/Peruvian flavor called Lucuma, which is a fruit grown around here. It almost had the taste of butterscotch.

First you fly, then you surf. Your life is extremely difficult. Too extreme.Must be very hard to be in your shoes.
I’m so happy that you can do all those marvelous things.
The ice cream looks inviting.
Love you very much
