Day 22- Wine Lunch

We had skipped a particular winery the day before because we had already booked a lunch at their place for today. This was Bodega Senetinir, and this particular lunch was recommended to us by 2 separate people, both with wonderful reviews. We had to go!

We got there slightly early for our lunch spot, but that was okay as they led us out to their amazing patio with a fresh glass of wine.

From here, we could also catch a glimpse of the “Parillero” cooking our parillada in one of those amazing Argentinian grills. Alejandro is dying to have one like that some day!

Then we finally sat down. We had company this time! These were Dalen and Hailey, we met them at our hostel, and they’ve been traveling a bit longer than us but have been to all the places we want to go next. It was awesome having them around to pick their brains about places to go and things to do!

From here, our lunch began. We started off with salmon ceviche, rabbit pate, and a green/black olive tapenade. From here we moved to steak and choclo (corn) empanadas along with bacon wrapped chicken. Next, they brought out a large salad, scalloped potatoes, and amazing sun dried tomatoes that would serve as our “guarnicion” for the many meats to come next.

The meats started with chorizo and morcilla (blood sausage, yum!), and somehow we missed those for pics… Then the largest rib/steak we had ever seen, the juciest pork chop ever, followed by prime rib, then seconds of any of them as much as we wanted. As you can see, we were slightly hungry as this began and kept forgetting to snap pictures from the beginning… We’re still beginners at this. But at the end, we were stuffed!

Finally, dessert. coconut flan, with dulce de leche on the side, and rasberry puree. Also candied pears with homemade ice cream. Delicious!

Once we finally got back to the hostel it was time to relax. We had the unfortunate circumstance of having to change rooms since we decided to add-on a night to our stay and our original room was already booked. This second room was slightly more expensive, but, the upside was that this was the first time we’ve had air conditioning all trip. Can you see the excitement?
