Quilotoa Loop Day 2

First thing on the agenda this morning was waking up early to go milk a cow with a local. We had seen the activity on offer, and thought it would be interesting to try. The lady we went with told us we both did a really good job, because some people can’t manage to get anything out. I guess we are naturals!

We went back to the hostel for a pretty solid buffet breakfast of scrambled eggs, homemade yogurt, and fruit, then headed out for the day of hiking. We again started our mostly downhill for the first hour or so, followed by a gentle uphill, then a grueling uphill for the last part of it. The scenery was still beautiful.

We arrived at about noon to Hostal Vaquero in Chugchilan, where we would be spending the night. Walking into our room, we both said, “Wow!” We had a beautiful view.

We grabbed our Kindles and headed outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. They had some interesting chairs to relax in.

We had a relaxing afternoon. They actually had WiFi here, so we booked our room for the following night in Quito. Dinner was at 7. The place was actually pretty empty. All of the guests fit at one table and we had a nice meal hearing everyone’s story.
