Good Bye Peru!

Today we woke up early to start our travels to Ecuador. There were no direct buses from where we were staying (Trujillo) to the city we wanted to visit in Ecuador (Cuenca) so we first had to take a bus to the coastal Peruvian town of Chiclayo.

The bus ride took about 4.5 hours and we made it for lunch time. Completely randomly one of the better restaurants in the country is located in Chiclayo so we had made reservations there to celebrate Cassie’s birthday! (the day before). We first made sure to buy our bus tickets to Cuenca, then grabbed a taxi and made it to Fiesta Restaurant Gourmet Chiclayo.

From the moment we walked in we could tell this was a classy establishment. They had our reserved table all set up and started us with a Lengua (tongue) tostada on the house. The next thing was a chef recommendation for appetizer which was absolutely fabulous, an egg tortilla with their specialty fish. After that we had also heard their grilled ceviche was killer so we had to try that as well.

Next it was time for our main course. We weren’t sure what to get so opted for the local delicacy of goat, though we were somewhat hesitant about how it would turn out… A whole leg came out on this huge wooden board and it was absolutely delicious! We ate the entire thing and loved every bite. We also had to get the recommended desserts of truffle and dulce de leche enrollado. By this time though it was time to head back to the bus station for the rest of our trip into Ecuador.

The bus left on time and we thankfully had a relatively calm ride towards Cuenca. This was our last sunset in Peru!
